Authority

29 May

What does calling Jesus “Lord” really mean?  How does that transfer to leaders in the church?  Are we to be under the authority of church leaders?

Spend 10 minutes meditating on Jesus’ authority

Then consciously submit to an authority in your life, be it a pastor, mentor, bishop or boss

In the Still of Night

At night, find a quiet place outside and sit in the silence.  Rest in God.

Communicate across a divide–racial, political, or ecclesial.

Plant Something

Sit Quietly

24 May

Go to a busy public space and sit quietly.  Try to be completely present and transparent to the God who is there.

Intend

23 May

Begin the day with an intention–something you want to do, to change, to work on.

Pray that God will enable you to fulfill this intention today.

At noon examine yourself and see if you have failed or succeeded in your intention.

In the evening do the same.

Ask what made your success or failure possible?

Repeat.

News Fast

22 May

Fast from all news, especially “news” that is more gossip than relevant knowledge of events.  This means that time on social networks should also be limited–Facebook and Twitter are feeds of certain kinds of news.  Focus on the people and events you witness around you and seek to see how the Good News of the gospel is made present there.

Walk

21 May

Go for a walk and leave prayers wherever you go.

Sabbath
